President Briefed on Preparedness of Armed Forces

Ljubljana, Apr. 14

The Slovenian army is seeing a gradual improvement of preparedness and an improvement in individual areas, President Janez Drnovšek, the supreme commander of Slovenian Armed Forces, said after being briefed on the state of the armed forces. He stressed the need to stick to financial frameworks so that the process of the transformation of the military is carried out as planned. Drnovšek said there were several open issues, but noted that there is a positive trend. "The development of the Slovenian Armed Forces has solid foundations, and a clear assessment has been given about its weak points," the president said after the meeting with Chief-of-Staff, Brigadier Ladislav Lipič and Defence Minister Anton Grizold. They briefed him on the progress in development, organisation, combat capacity and preparedness of the armed forces and its international co-operation.
