Ljubljana, Oct. 31

The legendary blues singer returns to Slovenia for the first time since the 1974 Ljubljana Jazz Festival to present her new CD "Lookin' for a Home". On this CD, Odetta pays tribute to one of her idols, Leadbelly, covering 15 of his original compositions. She will perform at Cankarjev Dom at 8.30 PM. (www.cd-cc.si)

Following last year's World Championships, Ljubljana's Tivoli Hall will once again host a top international dance event. The open championships in standard and Latin-American dances are expected to see competitors of all ages take part. The highlight will be the evening programme featuring world dance stars.

Omar Sosa Octet

Ljubljana, Nov. 4

Cuban pianist and composer Omar Sosa is the new king of Latin Jazz. His latest CD Sentir has been declared the Latin Jazz album of the year in the United States. Omar Sosa Octet are Omar Sosa (piano), Eric Crystal (saxophones), Terence Nicholson (rap), Martha Galarraga (Yoruba chants), Childo Manchanguela (electric bass), plus Gustavo Ovalles Miguel, Rios Puntilla and Javier Campos (all percussionists). The concert will take place in Cankarjev Dom at 8.30 PM.
