Simobil Reports Half-Year Gross Profits of EUR 6.8M

Ljubljana, Sep. 2

Simobil, the country's second largest mobile operator, posted gross profits of EUR 6.8m in the first half of the year, up from gross losses of EUR 0.7m recorded in the same period last year. Net profits also increased, improving from losses of EUR 7m in the first half of 2002, to a loss of EUR 1.4m in the first six months of this year. Revenues meanwhile rose to EUR 39.2m, an increase of 11% year-on-year. According to Bojan Dremelj, president of Simobil's management board, a ten-fold growth in gross profits ensures the company enough manoeuvring space to focus on gaining new subscribers in the second half of the year. At the end of June, Simobil boasted 350,077 users.
